CARDSWITCH IS THE MISSING SECURITY LINK IN CARD PAYMENTS

We are pleased to profile in this issue of the Navigator one of the most promising financial services security solutions companies on the market. CardSwitch Technologies Limited provides unique, secured payment solutions which result in new revenue and reduced fraud for banks, merchants and consumers.

CardSwitch solutions provide the missing - but much needed - security link between cardholders and card issuers. These new security solutions offer the best prevention, detection and resolution of card fraud and are the alternative way of securing high-risk card payments. In addition, these logical card security systems also provide an excellent quality of service that enables cardholders/consumers to define their own limits and/or prohibitions. CardSwitch solutions also greatly benefit card issuers and merchants as they provide a direct and targeted marketing solution and provide a new revenue source while decreasing the cost of card fraud.

Some CardSwitch solutions include: PaySwitch Platform, Third-Party Debit Card Switch, Direct and Targeted Marketing Switch, and ID Switch Control. The PaySwitch System presents a unique difference to all the solutions currently available to the market by virtue of the ever present secured link between the issuing bank and the cardholder. PaySwitch enables cardholders to gain increased control over their card accounts by enabling them to define their own limits and/or prohibitions and communicate these to their card issuers. The PaySwitch System provides the best quality of service to cardholders as well as the best prevention, detection and resolution of card payment fraud by:

• Enabling cardholders to set user limits on their card accounts using a Web-based-tool, sms commands and/or IVR (integrated vocal response) system. These limits are tested each time a card authorization request is received by the issuing bank.

• Giving cardholders/consumers confidence and the best quality of service in using their card accounts for card-not-present, cross-border transactions and ATM withdrawals. This gains the trust of cardholders by giving them Control Based Security.

• Enabling cardholders to efficiently and rapidly report lost/stolen or misplaced cards

• Decreasing the cost associated to the administration and operation of risk scoring systems

• Decreasing the cost associated to customer call centers

• Eliminating most of the card fraud affecting the market (card-not-present, cross-border and ATM transactions)

• Eliminating mail non-receipt card fraud that affects card issuing banks

The slow take-up of an ideal secured payment instrument creates a market niche for Third-Party Debit Card Switch. Third-Party Debit Cards are cards which cardholders have no account relationship with the issuer. Instead, the cardholder provides the issuer with the information necessary to debit the cardholder's checking account directly through an ACH, the same way a check would be cleared. The Third-Party Debit Card Switch paves the way for a more secured peer-to-peer payment system, not only for consumers but also for merchants. With the Third-Party Debit Card Switch, consumers can immediately experience the security of being able to control their debit accounts without having to wait for their banks to offer it to them. The Third-Party Debit Card Switch's security takes over where AVS (address verification systems) can not be used. A system such as Third-Party Debit Card Switch complies with SEPA and Faster Payment goals while ensuring ideal security at the same time to consumers.

The MCC (merchant category codes) in authorization requests and the PaySwitch Platform's notification system enable issuers to offer the Direct and Targeted Marketing Switch to merchants. This system will allow merchants to send direct and targeted promotional messages to consumers by using the Issuer's PaySwitch Platform's notification system.

ID Switch Control enables consumers to avoid Identity theft by allowing them to control credit applications or other bank transactions. This system prevents identity theft committed by criminals doing application fraud and/or account take-over.

One of the founders of CardSwitch Technology Limited invented the system which is the basis of CardSwitch Technology Security System offering. A patent has been granted by the U.S.P.T.O (No. 6,931,382) on August of 2005 and patent applications in Europe and worldwide are based on the U.S. patent's priority filing date. VISA USA filed a similar application but at a much later date. This is the only system that can effectively and economically protect the actual credit or debit card against fraudulent on-line, MOTO (Mail Order/ Telephone Order) and cross-border card-present transactions while it also gives the best quality of service to cardholders.

This patent includes the claims that enable cardholders/consumers to set their own user limits (prohibitions/restrictions). Even though the patent for this security technology was obtained many years ago, only now is the market warming up to the idea of card payment security solutions. With most of today’s payments made with cards or via phone or internet it is important that consumers and merchants as well as card issuers be protected from payment fraud and identity theft. CardSwitch Technology is the alternative way of securing high-risk card payments.

SUPPLY CHAIN TECHNOLOGY TRENDS AND NEEDS

There are many changes affecting how companies are trying to manage their supply chains. Below we mention some of these supply chain technology trends and a couple of key needs your solutions might address:

Technology Tools

1. There has been a recent increase in IT spending and changing technologies. Some of these changes include multi-dimensional bar codes, RFID or radio frequency identification, data clouds and Internet applications.

2. There is also an increase in requests for on-demand systems. We think this might be an over-reaction to the web services euphoria. There are pros and cons to this approach. Some companies will always need customized solutions for strategic initiatives. Organizations will be able to use on-demand services for domain areas where they do not directly compete with other companies. Look for a backlash when too many companies turn their competitive edge over to an on-demand generic service.

3. In terms of data, companies are looking for total control of data about the physical goods in the supply chain. They are looking beyond Just In Time methodologies to data control. This is not a new concept or goal, but an elusive feat that has stymied some companies and ruined others that could not keep up.

Global Marketplace Needs

1. There exists a requirement for global supply chain management solutions with localization built into the product. From a marketing perspective there is also a high demand for supply chain management solutions in global growth markets.

2. There exists a need to link the financial supply chain into the existing physical supply chain initiatives for greater efficiency. Progress has been made on both fronts only individually until recent years. Now the challenge is to optimize the total supply chain, which includes the financial positions that companies have throughout the physical supply chain.

There are many changes shaping this industry. How you choose and implement these changes will determine your level of success. If your solution addresses these needs, please contact us to learn how to expand your international presence.

LAUNCHING NEW PRODUCTS

Many companies send us their business plans, concepts and ideas, all looking for that secret formula to being able to launch their new product, service or business. Is there such a thing as a secret formula? This is debatable but I can tell you some of the essential ingredients.

1. The right product for the right time. Have you designed an offering whose time has come?

2. An excellent business model and strategy. Many great products are sitting on shelves and not selling because they were not packaged correctly with a great business model.

3. Appropriate funding. Many good ideas die on the vine because of lack of funds at critical times in the business lifecycle.

4. The right people. Skill sets are important, but complementary work styles and the right diversity blend can ensure you have all the elements of a great team.

5. Synergy. This is an overused buzzword, but the principles still apply today. You need the team to share a common vision, philosophy, and work ethic. You also need synergy between processes, people and technology.

6. Passion. The leaders involved in the launch of a new product need to have an undying passion (almost obsession) to the initiative.

There are many challenges that companies will face along the path to creating something new for the marketplace. There is often more bad news than good on the journey, but as anyone who has succeeded in these ventures knows, the reward is not only worth the journey, it IS the journey.

TWN.
